A repeatable record for AI answer visibility
AI answer visibility is not a single ranking position. A response can cite a narrow source that does not rank near the top of a conventional results page, and a highly ranked page may not appear in a particular answer. The useful question is therefore not whether one screenshot looks favorable, but whether another person can inspect the observation and understand what was tested.
GEO/AEO Playbooks is a public practice lab for documenting that work. It treats each answer check as a dated research observation: preserve the prompt, answer surface, response, cited sources, and whether a site was named, linked, or absent.
Start with reachable evidence
The methodology separates access from discovery. It reviews crawler access, an llms.txt file, answer-first structure, JSON-LD schema, and entity clarity. These are inspectable signals, not guarantees of a citation.
A compact checklist
- Use the exact buyer question and record the date.
- Save the full response and its cited or linked pages.
- Distinguish crawler access from actual discovery or citation.
- Use the AI crawler reference to document access rules separately from outcomes.
- Report uncertainty instead of turning one observation into a broad claim.
Short, self-contained passages help a reader evaluate the evidence. The aim is a reviewable trail, not a promise that an answer engine will cite a page.
